Sad news about Professor Seth Teller
To the members of the MIT community,
I write with a heavy heart. Yesterday we lost a dear friend and colleague, Seth Teller. You can find a News Office article about this news here. A faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Seth had been a member of the MIT faculty since 1994 and was a principal investigator in MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, where he headed the Robotics, Vision, and Sensors Networks Group and pioneered the design of machines that interact naturally with human beings.
I knew Seth as a person of great human warmth and intellectual intensity. He was a brilliant engineer and a gifted advisor with a passion for new challenges. His loss is difficult to grasp.
Seth lived in Cambridge with his wife, Rachel Zimmerman, and their two daughters. I know you will join me in embracing Seth's family and friends and in offering your support.
As plans develop to commemorate Seth, we will share them through the MIT News site.
